Room 155

Centrally located on the Nevsky Prospekt, where the the Tsar is said to have strolled, the Grand Hotel is St. Petersburg’s premiere hotel. The year 2005 was its 130th anniversary, celebrated by an elaborate party, that we were fortunate to attend, at which 130 meters of red caviar and non-stop food and drinks (vodka and champagne flowing freely) were served. The hotel has withstood the ravages of time and Soviet rule and is today a fully refurbished and elegant hostelry.

We stayed in Room 155, a large “bell chamber” (junior suite) with high ceilings and three large windows overlooking Nevsky Prospekt, and we recommend this room highly for its “old world” feeling, its spaciousness and its view.
