Suite 116
The Gritti Palace was a favorite
of Ernest Hemingway when he was in Venice and it is our favorite
hotel in Venice today. Located magnificently on the Grand Canal
just a few bridges from San Marco, it overlooks the Santa Maria
della Salute, that Baroque masterpiece of a church that dominates
the entrance to the Canal just across from the hotel. Its greatest
guest suite (the living room of which is depicted here), Suite116,
is fit for a king and comes with a royal price. The views from
this Suite are breathtaking but for considerably less you can stay
in junior suite 216 directly above, which has the same great views
of the Canal.
