Set in the hills with a picture
postcard view of the sea and the port below, the
Splendido is a grand hotel with a great restaurant, spa, walking
paths, gardens and a pool set into a cliff overlooking the sea.
We've stayed in Suite 361, a corner room with a view of the
port and a balcony from which one can sip champagne before dining
al fresco on the terrace of the hotel’s restaurant. At night
after dinner we enjoyed the evening entertainment: a piano player
and singer to whose tunes one can dance or sing along.
The port itself (within walking
distance from the hotel, although the hotel’s shuttle service
is recommended for the return) is picturesque, and offers outdoor
trattoria dining and great shopping boutiques.
