Castello Mastersuite
La Posta Vecchia is a small, elegant seaside hotel just a little over an hour from Rome. Originally
built to house visitors to the medieval castle that still stands next door, it was purchased in the 1960’s
by Jean Paul Getty who, with the assistance of the then curator of the Getty Museum in California, carefully
restored it and furnished it with its current collection of fine antiques and tapestries. The hotel also houses
a private museum, containing the remains of two roman villas that date to the 2nd Century B.C. But the glory
of this hotel is it’s magnificent seaside views, which one can enjoy from one’s bedroom as well as from the
outdoor dining area at the water’s edge where wonderful cuisine is served al fresco.
The most beautiful of the rooms in the hotel is the Castello Suite, pictured here, a large, corner junior suite
with views of the adjacent castle which gives it its name and of the sea whose breaking surf lies just below.
