Set on the edge of the Bosporus which it majestically overlooks, the Ciragan Palace is without doubt the most elegant and complete hotel in Istanbul with its two restaurants, one informal and the other serving gourmet meals (including Sunday brunch, which is not to be missed), an enormous swimming pool also on the sea, a spa with whirlpool, spacious grounds on which guests can stroll to the hotel’s own refurbished Ottoman palace, and other amenities, not to mention rooms with incredible views. One looks forward eagerly to returning to this hotel each day after taking in the unique sights and sounds (and experiencing the sometimes horrendous traffic jams) of busy Istanbul.
       We recommend room 2316, pictured here, a junior suite overlooking the Bosporus with a large balcony from which we watched as though hypnotized the almost ceaseless to and fro traffic of the watercraft that promenaded by just below us.
