La Posada del Faro is located in the small beachfront village of Jose Ignacio, some 30 kilometers from the resorts of Punta del Este in Uraguay. The area, with its miles of beaches, sand dunes and rolling surf is reminiscent of what the Hamptons of Long Island look like before the summer traffic overwhelms it.

The hotel has only a handful of rooms. The one we recomend is Room 12, pictured here, which has a great view of the ocean and beach that lies just steps away, along which one can enjoy a leisurely stroll. And a few blocks away is a great beachfront restaurant that offers excellent food and wonderful South American wines to a sophisticated clientele in a casual atmosphere.
