The Agassiz Room
On a bluff overlooking Naragansett Bay stands Castle Harbor Inn & Resort,
a small hotel listed on the National Register of Historic Places
that combines a warm and homey atmosphere with fine service and
good food. While convenient to Newport’s bustling downtown
port, its oceanfront location on 40 pristine acres is far enough
away to avoid the touristy congestion of that commercial area.
We always stay in the Agassiz Room, a corner room with six large
windows on the sea, including a bay that offers the best views.
It also has fireplaces in the bedroom and bathroom for coziness.
From the Inn we like
to take a short drive along the ocean to visit Newport’s
famous mansions and to take the Cliff Walk that stretches along
the sea at the back of those historic houses.
